Installation For Windows PC’s and Servers

 

 

Installation starts by downloading the File Watchdogs Installer program to your computer.

 

 

Click Save to save the file to a folder on your computer or click Run to run the file within your browser. We suggest you use the Run option. Selecting the run option will display the download progress dialog box.

 

 

Once the installer is downloaded, the Registration Wizard will start. Click Next.

 

 

Review the Standard Software License Agreement, select the I accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next.

 

 

Once the installer starts, the Setup Status window will appear.

 

 

The Select destination folder window will ask where you would like to install the File Watchdogs software. You should choose the default unless you are an advanced user and need to install the program in another folder or on a network drive. Click Next.

 

 

This window will show the status of your installation.

 

 

You will be prompted to install the Locked Files feature. You should select Yes to ensure that all locked and open files are backed up (requires rebooting your computer).

 

 

Once the installation is complete, you will be asked to reboot your computer. Close all open programs and save any open files you may have. Click Yes.

 

 

Once you reboot your computer, you will be presented with a security message. Select continue and you will see the following message. Select New Registration.

 

 

The Registration Wizard – Introduction will appear. Click on Next to continue.

 

 

Enter your contact information on this screen and click on Next.

 

 

On this screen, enter your desired Username and password and click Next.

 

 

Click Next to register with our backup network.

 

 

The File Watchdogs main menu will appear (Simple Interface). The Advanced Interface will appear if you are using the Business Workstation or Business Server product. You will be prompted to generate an encryption key. Follow the instructions on the screen, print and save this key and store it in a safe place. The encryption key is needed to restore your files from another computer.
