What is FileWatchdogs FTP Server? FileWatchdogs FTP Server is a file hosting solution that will allow you to securely send and receive files over the Internet.

How do I access the FTP server? There are several options available to you. To manage your site on the server, you logon to the Administrator Console. This link is included with your instructions when you purchase our service. To upload and download files, you can use our software that can be accessed via a web page or you can use any FTP enabled software.

Can Macintosh computers and web enabled devices use this service? Yes. Any computer or web enabled device that can browse the Internet can use this service.

How much data can I store? The Personal Service allows 10 gigabytes of data. The Small to Mid-Size Business package allows 20 gigabytes and the Enterprise package allows 40 gigabytes.

How secure is FileWatchdogs? Can you read my data? No. Our Tech Support crew can only view directory structure and file names. They can't open or view your files. Using an FTP enabled program that supports SSL insures that your files are secure during transfers to/from the server. (more)

How do my users access my site? Once you create a user ID, password and assign access rights, they can logon with any FTP enabled software. They can also use our software that can be download from our web site.

How long will it take to upload and download files? Transfer speed is governed by the size of your files, the upload and download speed of your Internet connection, and the amount of traffic sharing your branch of the Internet.

Is FileWatchdogs FTP Server HIPAA compliant? Yes, but you must use SSL transfers or encrypt the files prior to uploading to our servers (more on HIPAA).

How do I know if I need the FileWatchdogs FTP Server Business service? FileWatchdogs Business is designed for heavier commercial use. If you need more than 10 gigabytes of storage or 20 concurrent server sessions, you should consider one of the two Business packages.

How do I manage my site on your network? File Watchdogs has a complete Host Management Console that host administrators (account holders) can use to manage their sites. The console can be accessed from any computer connected to the Internet. The console is rich in features and functionality. Here is where you can add/delete users, modify user access and privileges, review site activity via a site log and set custom notifications when certain events are triggered on your site.
I don't want to add users and manage the site myself. Will File Watchdogs do this for me?Yes, we are happy to help you with this. All management requests can be sent to our Technical Support Team via email and they can make the changes for you, at no extra charge.
Is there a way for me to know when one of my users uploads, downloads or deletes files? Yes. You can setup notifications for your site through the Host Management Console and have them emailed to you. You can setup notices to be triggered when certain events occur. These events include the completion of a successful file upload, download, etc. Emails can be configured to be sent to anyone. Waiting for that important file? Set up a notification so you will receive an email when the file is uploaded.
Where can I find additional help? The Host Management Console includes a complete on-line Help system that is indexed and searchable. You can easily find answers to most any question within seconds. The on-line Help system can also be accessed through our support page where you will find additional resources and contact information.
Can your logon page be customized to look like my company web site pages? Yes. The login page of the FTP server can have the look and feel of your company web site. Send us a company logo or a blank web page template and we can incorporate it with our FTP applet logon. There is no additional charge for this customization on Business and Enterprise packages. How do I pay for your service? If you purchase a monthly plan, your credit card will be billed each month and you can cancel service at any time. So, lets say you purchase one of our FTP Site packages on July 4th, your credit card will be billed each month on the 4th. If you purchase on the 31st of a given month, you will be billed on the last day of each month. Annual packages are billed every twelve months on the anniversary date of your original purchase. Annual account holders will receive a reminder email of the upcoming charge and can cancel if the service is no longer needed. (back to top)
We have multiple clients that we want to be able to send us files securely. We want to access all of the files the clients send in, with them only seeing what they send, a many to one arrangement. Is this possible with your system? Yes, absolutely. Your users can connect securely with our Web Transfer Client login page or our secure FTP software, which is included with all service packages. You can set up each client to have access to his or her folder only. They won't see or have access to any other folder. You, as the host administrator, will have access to all the files and folders on your site. You can also setup users who have access to multiple folders or all folders as well. (back to top)
Do you have additional information regarding security and your network? Our networks are monitored 24/7 by File Watchdogs Technical Support staff and are behind one of the most secure firewall configurations available. Our data centers require five levels of authentication to physically access the servers on the network. The centers are monitored 24/7 by security cameras and remote sentry. We have Internet connections from two geographical directions; North and East. If the one coming into the center from the east is interrupted or destroyed, the connection entering from the north is still available. Two utility connections from separate electrical grids supply our locations with power. The entire network is on battery backup. If both electrical sources are lost, battery backups kick in for uninterrupted power. If the network is on battery power for more than 5 minutes, a diesel generator takes over. The generators at the mirror location are gas powered. The diesel generator at our main facility is tested every Tuesday and the gas generators at the mirror are tested every other Saturday.
